Dominic Zombo

Head Coach - 18U AAA and 16U AAA

Director of Player Development

Dominic Zombo grew up in the St. Louis area before going on to play 2 full seasons for the Sioux Fall Stampede (USHL) from 2009-2011. He graduated in 2015 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey program where he served as team captain his senior year. Over his four seasons with the Mavericks, Zombo amassed 36 goals and 50 assists totaling 86 points in 137 career NCAA games. Upon graduation, Zombo played four years of professional hockey in the ECHL where he scored 26 goals with 81 total points over 250 games. 

After retiring, Zombo entered the coaching ranks, working with the Green Bay Gamblers AAA program for two years. Following his time with Green Bay, Zombo made his way to Madison to coach for the Madison Capitols AAA program. Dominic Zombo is entering his third season with the Madison Capitols AAA and second season as an assistant coach with the Madison Capitols USHL team.

Ryan Galt

Head Coach - 15O AAA

Ryan Galt, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, played for the Des Moines Buccaneers and Bloomington Thunder in the USHL before heading to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for a 4 year college hockey career. During that time, Ryan played 115 games amassing 27 points and receiving the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award. Galt was an Assistant Captain during his senior campaign. After college, Ryan played in the ECHL for the Kansas City Mavericks. 

Galt stayed in the Kansas City area opening up Pure Edge Hockey Academy for youth AAA players to develop in the Midwest after retiring. Once Galt moved to Madison in 2022, he joined as a coach for the Madison Capitols AAA program working with the 16's and 18's team. Galt was the head coach of the 15O Capitols AAA team in the 2023-2024 season, who won the 2023 NAPHL Championship. During the 2023 USHL season, Galt joined the USHL staff in the middle of the season as an assistant coach for the remainder of the season.

Andrew Joudrey

Head Coach - 13O AAA

A native of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Andrew Joudrey played college hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2003-2007. In his senior season, Joudrey was elected captain and was a National finalist for the Hockey Humanitarian Award. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007. 

The former center was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the eighth round (249th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and went on to win two Calder Cups with the Hershey Bears (2009, 2010). Joudrey also won the Bears' AHL Man of the Year in 2011 for his community efforts. He won the award a second time in 2014 with the Springfield Falcons. In the 2014-15 season, Joudrey won the DEL Championship with the Mannheim Eagles. After 10 years of professional hockey, he joined the Madison Capitols USHL team as the team’s president in August of 2017 and began coaching with the Madison Capitols AAA program in 2021.

Dan Ruoho

Head Coach - Girl's 19U AAA, Girl's 16U AAA & Girls 14U AAA

Director of Girls Program

Dan Ruoho grew up playing hockey in Madison, where he watched his future coaches and mentors, Bob Suter and Mark Johnson, play both high school and college. Ruoho's youth career started at the Madison Flyers. In high school, he played at James Madison Memorial High School (now known as Vel Phillips Memorial High School), where in his senior year 1988, he was part of the team who won the WIAA State Hockey Tournament. Ruoho was named All-City MVP and 1st Team All-Big 8 Conference. After his senior year in high school, Ruoho was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 8th round,160 overall of the NHL 1988 entry draft After high school, he played one season of Junior A Hockey for the Madison Capitols (USHL), coached by Scott Owen & Bob Suter (1988/89 season). Ruoho earned a full scholarship to Northern Michigan University (1989-1993). During this time at Northern Michigan, the Wildcats won the 1991 NCAA Division I Hockey Championship. In his senior year, NMU advanced again to the NCAA tournament, reaching the quarterfinals. Ruoho graduated from NMU with a degree in Environmental Conservation. 

In 1993, after completing his college career, Ruoho played professionally for two seasons in the East Coast Hockey League for the South Carolina Stingrays (1993 was the inaugural season for the Stingrays). He then played for the Charlotte Checkers from 1993-95. He finished his professional career, returning to Madison, to play 4 seasons with the Madison Monsters (1995-99), where he was coached by Mark Johnson in his first year.  

After retiring, Ruoho started coaching youth hockey at the Madison Patriots and the Wisconsin Ice Spirit. In 2012, he also began to coach at the Madison Capitols AAA program. In 2016, after coaching Tier 1 hockey for both boys and girls (at all ages, from squirt major to U18 boys and girls U12-U19s), Ruoho was appointed Director of the Madison Capitols Tier 1 AAA girls program. Since then, he expanded the girls program to include a U12 team as well as to develop specific summer programming for the girls. During his tenure with the Madison Capitols, his teams have won several State Titles and earned multiple berths to the National Tournament. Ruoho has also placed numerous players at NCAA Division 1 and Division 3 programs.

Mike Jager

Head Coach - Girls 12U AAA

Mike Jager grew up playing hockey in North Dakota. Coach Jager started coaching hockey in the 1991-92 season in Devils Lake, ND. He has coached youth hockey in the Madison area since 2000 with Sun Prairie Youth Hockey, McFarland, Madison Patriots, and most recently 9 seasons with Sun Prairie HS Girls Co-op team. In addition to coaching, Mike is a tenured Level 4 Official and is a certified USA hockey officiating instructor. He will be entering his first season with the Madison Capitols AAA program as head coach of the Girls 12U team.
